netbooks have been around for quite some time. they have slowly been gaining traction and has even become a viable alternative to laptops. but the cheap alternative has always looked just that: cheap (and arguably ugly). most netbooks have looked more like toys than something that you could do actual work in. but now that manufacturers have had enough time to perfect their designs, we are now starting to see netbooks that you would be proud to show off. and since they are somewhat small enough to fit in most bags (and maybe even some purses), could netbooks be the next fashion accessory?

ETSY: HANDMADE STUFF SHOPPING GOODNESS

etsy is an online store/community where people all over the world gather to sell their handmade goodies. in here you can find stuff ranging from jewelry, paintings, and even clothes and luggage. as long as it's handmade, it's probably in etsy. even a geek like me can find something i would buy, such as these macbook sleeves.

you even have the option to search for where the stuff was made, so in my case i tried philippines, and i was surpised to see some stuff pop up. there weren't that many local etsy sellers but it was cool nonetheless.

another fun way to search for stuff is by color. sure it's gimmicky but still it might be useful if you want to buy a gift for someone who has an inclination for a particular color (ie your mom).


christmas is fast approaching, so if you're looking for something unique to give, and also feel like helping the little folk out, those people who worked hard through blood sweat and tears in order to make that one of a kind earring or purse, here's your chance.

COOL APP: JAPANESE DANCING GIRLS SCREENSAVER

uniqlock is a screensaver with a very simple yet engaging gimmick - every other count of 5 shows a bunch of japanese girls doing some various stuff, mostly dancing. it comes from japanese casual wear brand uniqlo (think gap). with stores in new york, the uk, china, hong kong, etc. im wondering if it will ever come here, since the clothes are definitely cool looking.

WHEN YOU JUST CAN'T SAY IT IN PERSON: SAY IT WITH NOTES!

passive-aggressive notes (http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com) is a website that chronicles the "painfully polite and hilariously hostile writings from shared spaces the world over". the notes found in the blog range from subtle hints of displeasure to outright angry death threats, and all very funny. i've been guilty of leaving notes of the kind myself, but after reading some of the notes from the site, i think i'll refrain from doing such anymore, since i think the desired effect is rarely achieved.

the country's newest fashion & music magazine is having it's launch party on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at warehouse 135 with an exclusive fashion show featuring creations of young talented designers + music from up dharma down, rico blanco, miguel escueta, dj mars miranda, nyctinasty, sleepwalk circus,and musical o.
