LOOKING DOWN ON THE LITTLE PEOPLE

2/09/2009 / Comments (0) / by Mark Lim

london-based artist slinkachu makes figures of handpainted people as art. you might go "meh. so what?", until you realize just how teeny tiny these figures really are:

they're really really tiny.

this is little people. it's his blog/art project wherein he chronicles the lives of his miniscule creations, by taking a photo of them, and then leaving them "to fend for themselves". this is a blog worth checking, if only to check out the ingenious situations he lets his tiny people get themselves into.

SERBIS BY BRILLIANTE MENDOZA

1/29/2009 / Comments (2) / by miguel

I was browsing rottentomatoes.com and look what i spotted! Along with the other foreign movies, "Serbis" was on their front page - and it got an 86% fresh rating! Although I did hear some bad stuff about it, i still am looking forward to it. Awesome, it is going to get a limited theatrical release. Serbis, directed by Brilliante Mendoza, was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

This is perhaps, one of the most unique and interesting blogs I've ever stumbled upon. It is interactive, very minimalist and the concept stuns me and makes go ... why didn't i think of that? Maybe I should blog more creatively

LEGOS GONE DIGITAL

1/24/2009 / Comments (3) / by Mark Lim

legos are sure making a comeback. first there was the JCDC lego-inspired fashion show, and now lego has teamed up with Digital Blue to make a line of digital products, like this awww-inducing digital camera.
unfortunately (or is it fortunately?) the bricks don't come apart.

other products that are planned include walkie talkies, mp3 players, video cameras. expect them to be on store shelves this summer, between $19.99 - $59.99 (approx PHP1,000 - 3,000)

FASHION NETBOOKS

1/19/2009 / Comments (0) / by Mark Lim

netbooks have been around for quite some time. they have slowly been gaining traction and has even become a viable alternative to laptops. but the cheap alternative has always looked just that: cheap (and arguably ugly). most netbooks have looked more like toys than something that you could do actual work in. but now that manufacturers have had enough time to perfect their designs, we are now starting to see netbooks that you would be proud to show off. and since they are somewhat small enough to fit in most bags (and maybe even some purses), could netbooks be the next fashion accessory?

WHITE LIES

1/19/2009 / Comments (0) / by Mark Lim

white lies are a post-punk indie band from london. their debut album, "to lose my life..." comes out today. their song "death" has a killers' human-esque vibe to it, though i somewhat prefer the former. check out their music video for the song.

EMPIRE OF THE SUN

1/11/2009 / Comments (0) / by Mark Lim

Photobucket

empire of the sun are an australian duo and their eponymous first track from their first album, walking on a dream, is a 80's synthpop track which feels as epic as the movie that shares the band's name. equally epic looking is the music video for said track, which was shot on location in shanghai:

i believe this will be the sound of 2009, which could as well be the sound of 1989.

Interesting one-click edit. The site I chanced upon transforms your photos into old looking images (including stains, and dirt marks). The whole site is in Japanese, but I know you'd get around because i did. Sometimes it looks good, sometimes it doesn't.
